Unlike manmade materials, natural stone is not only beautiful, it is environmentally friendly. There is no manufacturing process used to create natural stone. Natural stone is relatively low impact to the environment. The extraction process uses no chemicals and water is used to cool the saws that are used to quarry and cut the stone blocks.

Unlike other forms of mining, toxic waste piles that can pollute the surrounding environment are not a result of natural stone quarrying. Because of the environmentally-friendly process that is used quarry natural stone, it has been designated as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) compliant by the US Green Building Council. LEED is a rating system and set of standards that have been developed to encourage environmentally sustainable construction.

IceStone is a durable surface product that is manufactured from recycled glass and cement that creates a high performance, “green” concrete material that is also LEED-compliant. IceStone® contains no petrochemicals so they will not fade from direct-sun exposure. They are also chemically benign and inorganic so they are a healthy and safe choice for countertops, back splashes, interior walls and commercial flooring applications. IceStone® is manufactured in the US and only a select group of fabricators have been certified for its application.
