Oftentimes, when people see “thick” slabs of stone in someone’s home, it’s usually a double-mount of two stone slabs together. But this is ROCKin’teriors. And we do extraordinary things, especially when we partner with amazing custom home builders like Rufty Homes.
A double-mount was not going to happen with this particular customer, who just so happens to be a favorite of ours. Not in a custom home built by our friends at Rufty, with interior design inspiration by our friends at Design Lines. This homeowner wanted the real deal – one giant slab of pure marble. That’s where our partners at Marva step in to help us make it happen by sourcing the finest natural material.
The center island counter top is 6 cm ( more than 2 inches!) thick and weighs over 10,000 lbs! If you haven’t seen our Facebook video of the installation, it’s a must-see. Especially when you count the number of installers it takes to move a 10,000 lb slab o’ marble!
The rest of the kitchen sports 3cm thick Calacatta Extra counters with eased edges. The cooking surface area also features a full height marble backsplash.
Calacatta Extra is known for deep veins that showcase neutral shades of whites and grays. This stone is a top selection when featuring white-on-white in your kitchen, a trend that we don’t anticipate slowing down anytime soon.
